| Finca Son Jorbo, Fowlers, Cas Ferrer Nou, Fornalutx - Mallorca | Posted By Guy family |
| We toured Mallorca from 1st to 9th October this year and stayed at several hotels booked through Little Hotels. Porrerres - Finca Son Jorbo Excellent hosts. We had a lovely apartment adjacent to the breakfast terrace and although we only stayed two nights we found it a haven of peace and quiet. Saw two of the seven ( I think!) cats. Fabulous pool! They sell a specialty of Porrerres - chocolate dipped apricots - hugely appreciated by our respective parents when we returned home. A gem. Cala d'Or - Fowlers Hotel Someone has penned "stuck in a time warp" on the bar menu - tongue in cheek. However it is so true - we can't imagine that much has changed since the owners took it over in the 1980s. If you love the Rat Pack and Acker Bilk in the public areas you'll enjoy a stay here. Despite it's "character" it is an excellent location just above the harbour/marina - where you can mingle with millionaire yacht/cruiser owners. The other side of Cala d'Or was something that we had to see - as we had stayed in the Hotel Ponent Playa some 20 years ago when our grown up sons were "babes in arms" - we have to admit that somewhat snobbishly we HATED it- garish, OTT and no longer our scene (if indeed it ever was!). It was brilliant to be able to leave what we named "Hell" and return to a gentler pace of living at Fowlers - we recommend it highly!! Alcudia - Case Ferrer Nou Hotelet This is situated in the walled old town and delivers the "wow" factor when you walk into the old building to discover a designer boutique style interior. We had silk petals scattered on our mosquito-netted bed, which led out onto a terrace - with steps heading up to the roof-top terrace. Well appointed and fitted out. The only thing we didn't enjoy was sitting somewhat regimentally in a row of four tables for breakfast - too close to our neighbours for comfort - particularly those who didn't wish to chat at mealtimes! Fornalutx - Fornalutx Petit Hotel Another boutique hotel but in an amazing mountain-side setting. Views to die for - and if the hot-tub/jacuzzi had been working and the infinity pool had been warm it would have been fantastic - but it didn't and the pool was freezing! It seemed to lack something - it was rather quiet and dark in the evening - we wanted to sit out and read on the terrace but it wasn't lit up. A good breakfast on the terrace though - location was definitely the selling point. We enjoyed our whole trip and would happily recommend and use Little Hotels again. |
