News from Little Hotels, Edition 3
Now that we have settled in to our new base in southern Spain, it’s time to bring you the latest news from Little Hotels.
Little Hotels of the Canaries
We have just launched our new website www.littlehotels-canaries.co.uk covering little hotels in the Canary Islands. At present we offer just a few hotels on Gran Canaria and Lanzarote; other islands and many more hotels will be following soon.Search!
All the Little Hotels websites now have a search facility to help you locate exactly the type of hotel that you want. You can use the search to look for, say, hotels with disabled access in Andalucia or walking holidays in mountains, or anything else that your heart may desire. Look for the Search button on the top navbar of each main page.
Special Offer On Winter Sun in Ibiza
We have a fabulous offer from Hotel Atzaró in Ibiza. 35% discount (yes, 35%!) off the normal low season room rates from November through to March (excluding Christmas). Right through the winter, the Hotel Atzaró runs a craft market showcasing the work of local craftsmen and also local organic produce. Even if you're staying somewhere else in Ibiza, pop along and pick up a memento of your stay. You could also enjoy their special brunch, and a jazz concert at the same time.Walking in the Sierra Biar
We've just added some new photos to our page about Mas Fontanelles. Have a look, because from now right through to the early summer is an ideal time for taking a walking holiday there (or cycling, or horse-riding, or climbing, or caving.....)Recent New Hotels
We never stop adding hotels to our lists. Here are a few we’ve put on recently:Sa Petit Hotel de Valldemossa, Valldemossa, Mallorca. A restored village house in this stunning mountain village.
Villa Soro, San Sebastián, Basque Country. A luxurious 19th century villa. What a lovely way to visit this favourite haunt of the Spanish royal family.
Hacienda del Buen Suceso, Gran Canaria. Absolutely beautiful. Floating in a sea of banana trees.
La Villa Marbella, Marbella, Andalucia. An oasis of calm in the Old Town of Marbella, yet just a few minutes walk from the beach, the bars and restaurants and the nightlife
This Winter
I’m glad to say that we are really appreciating the better autumn and winter weather that has accompanied our own move to Spain. Today the sun is shining, there is a clear blue sky and the temperature is just under 20oC. If you’re enveloped in November gloom, you might consider some of these ideas:The Canaries: Obviously this is the classic European destination for winter sun. I have been especially impressed by the Hacienda del Buen Suceso, which I think is a really special hotel.
Andalucia: Pick a hotel on the coast if you’re after a bit of winter sun, perhaps Villa Marbella, Amanhavis or Albero Lodge. Do remember that the evenings are cool though, once the sun has set, so bring a light jacket. This is also a wonderful season for walking in the mountains, in which case almost any of our hotels would be ideal, except those furthest inland where it will be getting quite cold soon.Valencia: Just the same as Andalucia really. I passed nearby to Els Frares and Hotel Alahuar the other day and I thought how lovely it would be to spend the day walking or cycling in the mountains around there.
Skiing: Don’t forget Spain as a skiing destination too. We have two ski hotels in the Pyrenees, Niu Dels Falcons and El Privilegio De Tena. I’m not a skier myself, but people tell me that the Spanish resorts are less commercialised than the typical places in the Alps.
Summer 2005
Christmas is now only a month away, and as soon as the Queen’s Speech is over the holiday adverts will start to appear. Don’t be one of the people paying for those expensive television adverts. Instead, log on to www.littlehotels.co.uk and book yourself a little hotel, with more flexibility for you, at a lower price. By the time Christmas comes around, we will have added a page of information about flights and ferries between Spain and the UK. And for those of you with 56k modems, we hope you will also notice that our pages loading more quickly, due to some technical improvements to our code.
Happy holidays!
