Finca Las Encinas

Finca Las Encinas is a gourmet B&B offering comfortable accommodation, fine cuisine and also cooking courses for those who would like to learn more about good food and fine wines. The location is utterly rural, in a tiny hamlet tucked into the edge of the Sierra Subbética nature park.

If you've ever wondered where your olive oil comes from, the answer is all around at Finca Las Encinas; mile after mile of olive groves, occasionally interspersed with fruit trees and oaks. The nearest village is Iznájar, prettily situated on a peninsula jutting out into long and meandering Lake Iznájar. There are many fascinating historic treasures in the area, which is also good for a rural break en-route between Granada and Córdoba.

Finca Las Encinas is thought to be almost 200 years old. It has been sympathetically restored to a high specification in a pretty country style keeping many original rustic features. The building is surrounded by patios and terraces, and of course there is a small swimming pool for cooling down on a hot summer day. The cooler parts of winter are attended to by underfloor heating and a wood-burner in the lounge.

Finca Las Encinas holds th Andalucia Segura Badge approved by the Regional Government of Andalucia. This is a seal of approval for Covid-19 measures to enhance the safety of visitors in every sort of tourist business.

Meals

Food is the raison d'etre of Finca Las Encinas.

Andalusian breakfast is served from 8am to 10am with freshly-squeezed fruit juice, a variety of home-baked bread, locally cured ham, cheeses, seasonal fruits and coffee or tea. Japanese-style breakfast is available on request at a small additional cost.

Three or five course dinners are served each evening, with barbecues also available in summer. The chef's own recipes are presented in a dinner-party style, always using fresh organic ingredients, many of which are grown "at home" on the finca. Advance reservation is essential.

The cookery courses are a fun way of brushing-up on your skills and learning something new. They are not too intensive, so there is still lots of time to enjoy the scenery and the sunshine. And of course you get to eat what you cooked!

Iznájar - a pretty lakeside village with an 8th century Moorish fortress and many houses dating from the 16th century
Priego de Córdoba - one of the baroque wonders of Andalucia. A picturesque town at the foot of the highest mountain in the province of Córdoba
Rute - a "pueblo blanco" famous it's anise and cured ham. Also home to a renowned donkey sanctuary
Zuheros - a village in the Sierra Subbética, very popular with walkers and cyclists. The Via Verde is a 58km ancient trackway passing through the village, and there are many other sign-posted paths in the nature park. Also famous for goat's chees, olive oil and Neolithic cave paintings
