Sa Rota d'en Palerm sits right in the very heart of Mallorca, far away from the towns and tourist resorts. It lies on the flank of a hill dividing a fertile agricultural valley from the more rugged mountains of the northern part of the island. Having remained in the same family for generations, the hotel is converted from a typical Mallorcan farmhouse, surrounded by 28 hectares of fig trees, almond trees, carobs, a fruit orchard and a forest of holm oaks and pine. The gardens, terraces and secluded corners invite the visitor to enjoy evenings out of doors, surrounded by nature.
The old house (dating from the 18th century) and its courtyard of outbuildings have been adapted to provide seven apartments. They each have independent outside access, so guests benefit from the combined virtues of a hotel and self-catering.
Each apartment is comfortably furnished in a warm country style (some with antique items of furniture), and as well as the usual comforts such as a full en-suite bathroom, they all have air-conditioning and a private terrace (except one).
The large swimming pool has spectacular views over the valley and the garden terraces are ideal spots in which to sip an aperitif and watch the sun go down. The countryside all around is ideal for walking or cycling, and the interesting villages of Lloret and Sineu are nearby. A little further afield, the central location means that the mountains of the north-west coast, the calas on the east or the long sandy beaches of the south are all no more than a short drive away.
