Madrid's "Golden Mile" in the Salamanca district is a shopping zone including plenty of luxury shops and some of Spain's finest gastronomy. It is in this spirit that a 19th century palace on the Golden Mile was transformed into the 44-room boutique hotel that is Unico Hotel Madrid.
On entering the hall you at once get a sense of grandeur, from the marble mosaics and wide staircase and artistic flair from the spiral feature that leads you up it, and its slightly quirky contemporary twist so emblematic of 21st century city architecture and design. In some parts there is a simple and sleek presentation while in others intricate designs bubble up, including the library and drawing room, which somehow manages to fuse disparate patterns into an intense, vivid but tasteful concoction of furniture and décor.
The tranquil inner garden-courtyard, is an exclusive and ample space with a pleasant open-air lounge area, perfect for enjoying cocktails, having a quiet read or simply enjoying the sun.
The choice of rooms is wide, with the lavish pleasures of taking one of the grand suites at the extreme end, but there are many rooms that will be more affordable for most guests, and all have king-size beds and a huge range of amenities that both reflect the needs of the business traveller and the desires of the holidaymaker (ranging from the practical to the luxurious). Here in the centre of the capital city, effective sound-proofing is a special bonus in this classic building.
The wellness suite offers a range of indulgent treatments and a gym which has state-of-the-art Technogym equipment. There is a large guest car park and tailor-made services (personal trainers, personal shoppers,…) for the most discerning traveller.
Meals
There are inevitably plenty of plaudits that can be bestowed upon Ramon Freixa's restaurant, which possesses 2 Michelin stars.
It was also voted the best restaurant in the capital at the respected Madrid Fusión international gastronomy summit. Make a reservation in plenty of time to guarantee a table. There is a lounge that can be booked for private dinners.

Here's What Some People Have Written On Other Review Sites or in the Guestbook:
I recently spent 5 nights at Unico and I highly recommend this hotel! The property is located on a quiet street in the most fashionable shopping district of Madrid. It is quite literally surrounded by the best shops, restaurants, and tapas bars in the city. The hotel is very stylish but comfortable. The downstairs lobby has several comfortable libraries and breakfast is available downstairs in the restaurant. The rooms are modern, stylish and comfortable. My room had French doors that opened on to the inner courtyard. Wi-fi internet worked effectively. The best part of the experience were the people who went out of their way to accommodate our requests. Pedro was especially helpful with several items that made my stay even more satisfying and enjoyable. Jack, Los Angeles |
This is a very chic and sophisticated boutique, luxury hotel. The space is both beautiful and comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms are wonderfully appointed. And the hotel is in a great location on a quiet street in a high-end shopping district. They have a great massage therapist in their wellness center on-site. I highly recommend this hotel and have nothing negative to say! H.B. Texas |
Fantastic boutique hotel in Madrid's classiest district, large rooms considering it's in the heart of the Salamanca district, free wi-fi, spacious gym and best of all, the staff who are friendly, helpful and always willing to please. It has an incredible patio and 2 Michelin starred restaurant, because it was fully booked for the four nights we stayed there. You have to book well in advance. We will be back! Marieta, Madrid |
