Helping Our Community
A couple of recent incidents alerted us to the importance of acessing an AED (that's an automatic external defibrillator) very quickly if someone has suffered a cardiac arrest. Looking around, we realised that there was no definitive and accurate list of the defibrillators in our locality. So we decided to create our own.
We were fortunate to be able to work with Portishead Coastguard Team (https://www.facebook.com/PortisheadCoastguard/) who sent coastguards out to find, check and photograph every defibrillator in and around Portishead. Then it was our job to create the webpage and to host it on our server.
The result is here: https://www.littlehotels.co.uk/portishead-aeds.php
It's only helping one small town, but it's our town, and it's a town with a wonderful community spirit so we wanted to do our bit.
If anyone reading this is interested in hosting something similar for their own community, we would be more than happy to provide the code and the database structure. Just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
