The origins of Villa Chovita are lost in the mists of time, but the recent renovation has brought it firmly into the 21st century. This old peasant's cottage is now a comfortable holiday home packed with every conceivable feature including air conditioning, wi-fi internet and solar-heating for the hot water.
The stone-built cottage sits in 2 acres of productive land, enveloped by a pleasant garden and a terrace for sitting out. Set down deep in the Mogán valley it is surrounded by high hills. Although just a kilometre from the village of Mogán, Villa Chovita is really in the middle of nowhere, and so much the better for that. The nearest beach is only 7 km away though at Puerto de Mogán and Taurito beach is a couple of kilometres further.
Indoors, the quality is exceptional with ample space and fine materials used throughout. The kitchen has granite worktops and comprehensive appliances including a very large fridge and freezer. Likewise the bathroom is generously equipped and elegantly finished. (It should be noted that the hot water for the shower is heated by solar, and must be activated a few minuted before use.)
Villa Chovita has been in the same family for well over 100 years. When the present owner's great-grandparents moved out, the cottage and land were left to decline and the house was unoccupied for 50 years. It is a testament to Sonja's dedication that her family roots have been brought back to life as a thoroughly modern, luxurious and eco-responsible holiday cottage.
