luxury chateau hotel

Château des Briottières is a renowned chateau hotel 28 kilometres from Angers in the Loire valley. It is well-known for the friendliness of its management and staff, something which might not necessarily be expected in such a luxurious and imposing hotel. Equally, it has won many plaudits from the most respected commentators for the beauty of both the building and the surrounding estate. This luxury 4-star hotel of 14 bedrooms is well-situated at the heart of the Pays-de-la-Loire and only two hours or so from Paris. The owner has worked hard to retain the spirit of 18th century French living in all manner of details of the building. Four-poster beds abound with fine fabrics, whilst all rooms can be set-up for twin beds if desired. Each one, situated on the first floor of this large building, also looks out over the expansive 50 hectare ‘parc à l’Anglaise’ (English-design park) with its stands of tall, mature trees, and uniform yet effortlessly natural presentation. In addition to the rooms in the main house, there is further accommodation in the "Le Fruitier" Cottage, the orangery which has been converted to provide rusticly chic bedrooms and a three-bedroom apartment.

Also in the garden, there is a 12 x 6 metre swimming pool, a tennis court, and cycling and fishing opportunities to be had.

On the ground floor, the public rooms are as magnificent as they are spacious, all decorated in 18th century French style. The grand salon is, well, very grand, while the salon vert is smaller, more intimate and more relaxed. Guests may opt for a visit to the library where they can read or play billiards. There is also a piano on which to play.

The Loire valley is famous for its chateaux, and for many visitors these are the focal point of a visit to the area. What better way to pass a holiday amongst the chateaux than to actually stay in one?

Here's What Some People Have Written On Other Review Sites or in the Guestbook:

"The reception was perfect, apéritiv, dinner and digestiv were served in three different places, perfectly arranged furniture. Breakfast was continental and good quality. Dinner was always very tasty, example: one day we had as a starter a filet of zander on beurre blanche which could easily be served in ***Sonnora."

"We were invited by close friends to spend a week in France to celebrate a 'big' birthday. They had visited Chateau des Briottieres and fallen in love with it. The guests, 18 of us in all, arrived in France and, in hired cars, drove to the Chateau. Our first impression, as we drove up the magnificent drive and took in the lake and awesome landscape, was of jaw-dropping incredulity. This fabulous 18th century chateau was exactly as we dreamed it would be, only better.
Francois met us personally and took us all to our bedrooms - we stayed in the mighty Chambre de l'Etang - with views on three sides of the parkland and the lake. None of the other bedrooms disappointed either - all very individual and beautifully presented."

We Say

Owner Francois loves Chateau des Briottieres not as a professional hotelier (though
he is certainly that) but as the sixth generation of his family to be the custodian of this astounding house and estate.

A Word From the Owner

Come to visit us. The chateau has been in our family for more than 6 generations. It is still our family home: we love it and we think you will too!
