In the heart of the Côte d'Or vineyards, a stone's throw from that of Clos de Vougeot, and equidistant between Beaune and Dijon, one comes to the luxurious Château du Petit Musigny a Chambolle (formerly Hôtel André Ziltener). This charmingly intimate 18th century mansion hides behind a large stone wall with grand gates, right in the centre of the little wine-hamlet of Chambolle-Musigny. The hotel offers 4 junior suites, 4 deluxe double rooms and 2 magnificent apartment suites.
Marble embellishes the bathrooms, whilst in the bedrooms, understated carpets sit beneath more lavish beds, with decorative drapes. In some, substantial wooden beams give a slightly more rustic feel, while others are refinement personified. Each room, somewhat influenced by the Louis XVI style, has been named after a famous Grand Cru wine.
Sitting right on the 'Route des Grands Crus', the 60 kilometre wine route that passes through many of the great Burgundy appellations and 33 villages and small towns, this hotel is a real find for wine lovers. Naturally the château has its own wine cellar and a stay here includes a complimentary tour of the cellar with a tasting of the local specialities. The hotel also has a wine bar with Burgundy-style wood panelling.
Les Charmes. A beautiful and bright room with direct access to the chateau garden. Spring-like yellow is the chosen colour to honour the Côte d'Or. The bedroom is furnished with a Grand Lit and comfortable upholstered furniture.
La Tache. Subtle salmon colouring gives the suite a special warmth. Furnished with a Grand Lit, sofa and marble bath with double washbasin and bath.
Corton. Soft blues and beiges blend with the massive wooden beams in this second floor room. Grand Lit bed and a marble bathroom assure a luxury stay.
Chambertin. This bedroom with bright blue-beige coloured twin/double bed and sofa blends the rustic style of the centuries-old wooden beams with modern convenience. The original wooden roof beams go right through into the marble bathroom.
Musigny. The olive-green coloured large double bed, as well as the direct access to the garden give this room a special ambience.
Echezeaux. This light, bright junior-suite on the second floor exudes a special charm. A king-size bed with baldachin, soft colours and exposed timberwork give this room harmony.
Bonnes Mares. A bright spacious room with a majestic king-size bed, comfortable upholstered furniture and beautifully worked timberwork. This junior-suite has its own large terrace.
Richebourg. Decorated in warm green colours, there is a feeling of cosiness. Visible wooden beams in the roof construction emphasise solidity.
Romanée Conti. Pastel blue-beige coloured apartment. The bedroom has a king-size four-poster bed and separate dressing-room. There is a private salon with chimney and the marble bathroom has twin washbasins and a bath-tub. Private access to terrace and park.
Les Amoureuses. Our favourite: An elegant bedroom with a large double bed or twin beds, a separate drawing room and a beautiful marbled bathroom. The soft yellow colours elegantly combine with the fine antique wooden decor.
There is no restaurant in the hotel itself, but snacks are available throughout the day, including 'Mâchon Bourguignon', a local speciality of ham and cheese with sprinkled chopped parsley.
Breakfast is served in the dining room, in your room, or outside on the terrace.
