This elegant Georgian House hotel, built in 1830 by the Duke of Wellington, is set in its own garden, enjoying stunning views right across the city of Bath and the surrounding countryside. Apsley House has been refurbished in great style and every care has been taken to preserve the natural elegance of the house, but still provide modern comforts.

The well-proportioned reception rooms offer both style and comfort, with many period features complemented by fine antiques and original oil paintings. The gardens are south-facing and enjoy spectacular views, so they are perfect for an evening aperitif or even a picnic on a summer’s day.

All the bedrooms are individually and tastefully decorated, from the Wellington Room (reputedly the famous Duke's own bedroom) to the Coach House, which is a self-catering two bedroom apartment at the front of the main hotel. Even the cosiest room has a 6ft king-size bed and a bathroom with both a slipper bath and a walk-in shower.

Served in a delightful south-facing dining room, with crisp white napkins, quality silverware and crockery, breakfast is accompanied by gentle classical music, and sometimes the sight of hot air balloons passing by the large bay windows. The chef is passionate about using locally sourced ingredients, so he picks the best sausages, bacon, eggs, and smoked salmon from a local farm in Bath, and has a daily fruit and vegetable delivery to ensure the freshest, quality ingredients to cook with.
