The Summer House.
Cornwall Terrace, Penzance, Cornwall.
The Summer House is an enchanting Grade II listed house which in the past has been the home of many artists from the Newlyn School. Today it is an elegant Regency boutique bed and breakfast, only a stone’s throw from the iconic Victorian promenade and views of across Mounts Bay to St Michael’s Mount.
Each evening guests can relax with a complimentary glass of wine, either in the sub-tropical courtyard garden or in the drawing room.
For breakfast guests can choose an extensive continental or traditional cooked breakfast, with vegetarian, vegan and fish options. Outside breakfast hours there is the 24 hour pantry, where you can help yourself to hot and cold drinks, cakes, cookies and savoury nibbles to truly make you feel at home. If you're planning to be out all day Kirsten can provide a picnic lunch and now there is even a reasonably priced evening meal option. Especially useful in high season when restaurant places may be difficult to secure.
There are five tranquil en-suite bedrooms, decorated by artist Kirsten in a sympathetic, elegant but relaxed style and including some or her own original artworks. All the rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, a safe, wifi and bluetooth radio alarms. The bathrooms have waterfall showers, a hairdryer and luxury, eco-friendly, vegan-friendly toiletries.
The location of The Summer House places so many places in Penzance and Newlyn within walking distance: Penlee House, the semi-tropical Morrab Gardens, Penzance and Newlyn harbours, the Battery Rock pool, Newlyn Art Gallery and the Scilly Isles ferry to name just a few. Within a short drive are picturesque Mousehole, Marazion, St Michael's Mount, St. Ives, Sennen Cove, Land's End and the Minnack Theatre.
