Hotel Rector is perfectly placed on the edge of the old quarter of Salamanca, where it is itself a part of the fabulous architecture that distinguishes the city. Directly opposite is the "Casa Lis", one of the most important museums of Art Deco and Art Nouveau in the world. Right nearby there are the cathedrals, the famous University of Salamanca, the Casa de las Conchas, the Plaza Mayor and so on. No more than a few yards away you will find the Convent of San Esteban, the Motor Museum and the Roman bridge.
The hotel has a wonderful stone frontage, while behind there are comfortable and elegant rooms, including the 13 guest rooms. Much of the furniture was especially made for the Hotel Rector, in mahogany and olive-wood, to impart a unique sense of exclusivity. The bathrooms are exquisitely decorated with copious white marble.
There is a small bar for hotel guests, a fine dining room exclusively for breakfasts, and large reception lounge with comfortable armchairs and sofas. Inside, the hotel exudes an engaging sense of tranquillity that belies its convenient central position in the heart of Salamanca. Few city hotels can boast a view, but looking out on the Cathedral and the Casa Lis is a very pleasing experience that makes it quite clear that you can only be in Salamanca. All in all, a very fine hotel.
We came across the Hotel Rector completely by accident, and what a discovery! That monumental stone facade is classic Salamanca, and so is the charming and friendly service within.

Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
|A perfect hotel. I stayed for two weeks and it was a home away from home. The staff were courteous yet warm and friendly. Room spacious and superb service. Ten out of ten.|
|We had a wonderful experience at the Hotel Rector in Salamanca. It is a serene oasis that boasts excellent staff who are both welcoming and quietly efficient. The rooms are very pleasant with underfloor heating and marble bathrooms. We were very impressed and would unhesitatingly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to stay in Salamanca. Salamanca itself has some of the most beautiful buildings in Spain. We would particularly recommend visiting the Convent of San Estaban and the Cathedrals.|
|I enjoyed my stay thank you.|
Especially the very helpful and friendly reception staff.
I also liked the way you got rid of the smoking smell in the rooms.

|The Rector Hotel was indeed a Charming Hotel. Our room was a very good size, light-filled, comfortable and a delight to stay in. The staff were most helpful and friendly. |While we have loved staying in the paradors in Spain, we would not have missed our visit to your lovely hotel. The people could not have been nicer. The room was elegant but not fussy. We appreciated the ease and security of parking. One of the loveliest hotels in all of Europe. J.H.|
