La Casa de la Caldera is a beautifully restored traditional Canarian farmhouse blending rustic simplicity with modern facilities and comforts. It is situated in the Femes valley in the southern part of Lanzarote, right on the edge of the little hamlet of Las Casitas. The house is completely surrounded by open countryside with a dramatic backdrop of the volcanic caldera which gives it it's name.
The property offers self-catering accommodation in four apartments and cottages. They each have their own private patio, terrace or garden and share a 10 metre swimming pool with a large surrounding terrace and sun shades.
La Casa de la Caldera has three fully independent apartments in the main house and a fourth small cottage on the far side of the pool to provide even greater privacy. All the rooms have a spacious lounge, a well-equipped kitchen and a private bathroom. They also have a private area outside.
Whilst La Casa de la Caldera offers peace to those that wish to relax, swim, read, or paint, it is very well located for those that wish to be more active and walk, cycle or ride into the surrounding hills. There are good restaurants and bars within easy reach in the neighbouring villages of Femes, Uga and Yaiza and the marinas at Puerto Calero and Rubicon. The Timanfaya National Park and some of the best beaches on the island are only a 10 minute drive away.
El Aljibe
El Aljibe is situated on the far side of the pool from the main house. It has one double bedroom which is built into what used to be the underground water tank (the "aljibe"). This has rock lined walls and is lit by an opening window in the ceiling.
On the ground floor there is a well equipped kitchen combined with a comfortable lounge and dining area with DVD and CD players.
There is also a bathroom with shower. The cottage has direct access to the pool and the surrounding sun terraces.
El Aljibe is ideal for couples seeking cosy seclusion.
Puesta del Sol
La Puesta del Sol has two double bedrooms, a large twin bedroom on the ground floor with double doors opening onto a private sun terrace and a double bedroom on the first floor with large shuttered windows that give wonderful views across the hills and Femes valley. Both rooms have built-in wardrobes.
The lounge features a large roof window set in a high beamed ceiling that ensures that the room is bathed in light during the day and at night you can sit in comfort and study the stars.
The cottage is equipped with satellite television, DVD player and hi-fi system and has a fully operational traditional Canarian fireplace.
El Patio
El Patio has two double bedrooms, one with twin beds, both on the ground floor with doors and windows opening into the secluded inner courtyard. Both bedrooms have built-in wardrobes.
The spacious lounge with a high beamed ceiling has wonderful views over open countryside and the caldera to the west of the property.
A well equipped kitchen/breakfast room opens onto a private dining and barbeque area.
The cottage is equipped with satellite television, DVD player and hi-fi system and has a fully operational traditional Canarian fireplace.
Valle de Femes Cottage
This cottage has two large, airy rooms, as well as its own garden and barbecue area. The rooms have high, beamed ceilings and comfortable rustic furnishings, with an open Canarian fireplace and a separate kitchen/dining area in the living room. The bedroom has a king-size bed and generous storage cupboards (cot or additional bed available on request). The en-suite bathroom has a shower over a full-sized bath and a bidet.
The accommodation has a fully equipped kitchen, with oven, hob, microwave, and fridge/freezer.
It also has a TV with satellite and internet connection and DVD player, CD player/radio, iron and hair-dryer. There is also free wifi access.
