Casa de Hilario
, C/ General Garcia Escamez, 19, Yaiza.
Casa de Hilario is an old finca on the edge of the village of Yaiza, with parts dating back to 1730. It is located in a stupendous position with the Timanfaya national park on one side and the Papagayo beaches on the other. There are almost 360º views taking in the fire mountains, the Atlantic Ocean and the village.
The lounge on the first floor offers great views and there is a terrace for enjoying the morning sun and another for watching the sunsets. The spacious patio offers a space within the house and there are gardens leading away from the house that include the heated swimming pool.
The hotel has 7 lovely rooms each one with a distinctive design and including furniture that was specially made to suit the eclectic design philosophy of Casa de Hilario, matching rustic with modern, classical and oriental. The bathrooms are fully equipped and all have special large showers.
Outdoors, there is a garden and terrace, and a swimming pool with views right down to the village and the sea.

Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
We found Casa de Hilario to be a very pleasant hotel in a quiet location away from the bustle of the big resorts. A knowledge of Spanish is helpful we found. It is well placed to drive from to other parts of Lanzarote with minimum fuss, specially the national volcanic park. There is a decent restaurant virtually next door and a couple more in Yaiza itself, so it is no problem that the hotel does not offer dinners on site. The hotel is quite easy to find and only 20 minutes drive from the airport, but I'd recommend looking at Google Street before coming. |
Casa de Hilario was a comfortable and very characterful base with a wonderful setting. It is, however, more a bed and breakfast than a hotel. There was no one there to greet us, and we were left with a non- English speaker when we paid our bill upon our departure. Breakfast was self-service and collected from a basic kitchen area, and we were expected to clear our own tables. Our bed was made during the day, but there was little evidence of any other service in our absence. Little touches like access to a cork screw and wine glasses would have been nice, and perhaps a CD player with a selection of easy-listening music to tempt us into using the lounge area. The Bodega de Santiago next door serves delicious food, and proved incredibly convenient. |
Small, friendly hotel in Yaiza. Our room was lovely, huge bed and big bathroom, all very originally decorated and very clean. Breakfast on the front terrace was a delight and the 'breakfast/ cleaning lady' was always smiley and welcoming. Breakfast (buffet) food always fresh and plentiful. Good wi-fi and phone reception in all common areas. Couple of negatives - very small pool (2-3 people at a time), and only 5 sun beds for potentially 18 people. We didn't hire a car, so used the pool quite a lot, and got first dibs on the beds, but during the week saw people who had been out for the day want to use it on return, and were not able to because no beds available. Also, no local information available at all in the hotel. A map of town showing restaurants, good walks, bus routes etc, would have been really useful. There seems to be an assumption that everyone has a car, but we were not the only ones who didn't during the week we stayed. Overall we had a great, relaxing week and the owner was very helpful in getting us a taxi back to airport etc, but we found Yaiza to be a strange place. It is totally deserted at night ( ie from about 6pm), and none of the lovely squares and public areas are used at all. Despite several play areas, we did not see any children or young people ( or old people, come to that), playing or using the spaces. It is almost too perfect, very, very clean and tidy, but no life to it. |
The booking service was very good. The hotel honestly described. The hotel very pleasant and well located. Lots of interesting places to visit and good restaurants with in easy reach. |
We were delighted with Casa de Hilario, in Yaiza, and with all the arrangements made through Little Hotels of Spain. Everything went incredibly smoothly, including the hire car which was there to meet us at the airport as promised. We seem to have got a very good deal on the hotel (according to Jose, the owner) by booking through you. The hotel is delightful, our room (No.5) - shown on the website - is beautiful and very unusual, breakfast excellent, and the service couldn't be faulted. We also enjoyed two delicious meals at Jose's other establishment, Casona de Yaiza, which turned out to be the best cooking and best value of the whole holiday. We were delighted to meet their new son, Ignacio, who was born during our stay! Thank you for everything you did to make our holiday so enjoyable and trouble-free. |
Check room rates, check availability and make your booking. It's so easy!

We Say
The artistic touch of the owners is visible everywhere, and most especially in the bedrooms. The lounge, too, is very special, with all-round views.
