Hotel Spa Villalba
, Camino San Roque, s/n, Vilaflor.
Hotel Villalba is a modern hotel built with total respect for traditional Canarian architecture and the special mountain location that it occupies. As you step through the entrance, you find a Canarian patio full of hand-crafted woodwork, and as you pass through to the south-facing lounge you encounter large windows looking over the surrounding pinewoods and out to the distant horizon of the Atlantic Ocean. This unique environment is just 20 minutes from the coast, yet here 1600m above sea-level there is warmth and sunshine combined with the purest of fresh mountain air.
The main swimming pool is cleverly designed to be half covered and half outdoors. As well as the usual facilities, this hotel has an impressive spa that includes pools, sauna, gym, massage, beauty and health treatments.
The spacious rooms have furnishings and decor designed to convey an ambience of rest and relaxation, so your holiday can bathe away the stresses of life even if you choose not to use the spa facilities. The bathrooms are walled with hand-made tiles and there is a balcony outside with hand-carved rails. All this is combined with modern amenities such as minibar, satellite TV and telephone.
In the foothills of the snow-capped Mt Teide, Vilaflor is nicely located far enough from the coast to avoid the crowded resorts, but close enough to allow visitors to enjoy the sea and beaches whenever they want. For guests who want to stay inland, the area offers excellent walking and cycling country (as long as you don't mind hills!). There are 11 designated walking routes, offering unique opportunities to get to know Tenerife and its flora and fauna (including 220 plant species unique to the islands).
Adults only minimum age 14 years.

Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
We had a great time and enjoyed good weather. Our hotels were all good in their own way. At Hotel Spa in Villaflor they did nothing wrong, the rooms were superb and the food on the whole was also very good. It was just a bit dull and lacking atmosphere though everyone was very nice and helpful. Thanks for your help. |
We have just returned from highly enjoyable stay at Hotel Villalba in Tenerife and would like to thank you for your help in booking the excellent hotel. We will look to return and to book future holidays through Little Hotels. |
It's about a half hour car journey from the south airport up through winding roads to the hotel. This gives a good sense of the countryside as you rise to the 1500 metres contour. The hotel has ample roadside parking as it is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. A wide airy reception hall awaits with really friendly staff who are only too willing to help you plan your stay here. Our accommodation had a reception/sitting room, balcony, large bedroom and a large bathroom. All the rooms were clean and kept that way each day by the housekeeping staff. The dining area can open out on to a patio if you preferred to eat al-fresco. The food was good for both breakfast and dinner but the dinner menu never changed. The free spa was excellent with the widest range of facilities. The pool was a bit chilly! but the jacuzzi and the foot baths made up for this. A number of hiking tracks pass the hotel most are graded medium but there are some steep ramps to get up in places. Some of the trails finish near a convenient return bus route if you don't fancy walking back. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to go back for more. |
We had a really good time -the journey up was a little difficult but well worth the effort. Having spent only one morning in the area of Costa Adage -and nearby resorts -it was quite wonderful to leave it all behind -and return to the mountains. The hotel itself was very good as were the staff. The breakfasts could not be faulted -but the dinners were a little variable -we,d missed the bit about "adding on half board for 21euros each -so we only ate the dinner 4 times. The choice's were good -tho' unchanging throughout the week -the vegetables(generally only potatoes) were often very undercooked (we did mention this each time)br> We chose to have (for two) the suckling pig -a meal we have enjoyed many times in Spain -sadly whilst being a very good size portion the meat had obviously been frozen. The room we had was a sort of junior suite and was extremely good -as was its upkeep -again faultless. The Spa was very well set out & again the staff there very helpful. All in all very good value-though from our extensive travels in similarly styled 4 star boutique hotels not quite up to the mark culinarily. I would recommend the hotel to others -with a warning about the journey to it up some tricky roads and the advice to not eat every evening at the hotel. |
I am just writing to say how much we have enjoyed our time recently in Tenerife and particularly at our hotel. Everything about the hotel was first rate. The room was large and spacious and very clean. The food in the restaurant was of high quality. The breakfast was also of a good standard. The location of the hotel for us was just right, nice and quite but within 40mins you were down among the more traditional holiday destination., All in all a great Hotel! |
We stayed a Villalba in Vilaflor (Tenerife) from 22-29th December. The hotel was great and we enjoyed the ambience, the space and the facilities very much. The food and service was excellent. However, not sure I would recommend it for a week. The roads to reach Vilaflor are quite treacherous and require absolute concentration, and the location is remote. For Christmas its also a bit chilly. The stay would have been fine for a maximum of 3 days - maybe 4 nights - then its time to experience somewhere else, maybe on the coast. We don't like the Spain of the big resorts, so are very pleased we've found you and would definitely use the services of little hotels.....again. Also the hire car we booked through you seemed very reasonable and worked efficiently. |
We just stayed in Villalba, Villaflor, Tenerife for 2 nights this week. Amazing! This is really a pearl of a hotel. Service is excellent, everybody extremely friendly and helpful. We arrived there at night and waking up in the morning with clouds beneath and woods and mountains above us was a great experience. The location is just amazing mids between the coast and the Tiede top. We rented a car at the airport. From Villalba going into the mountains is very easy. The complementary spa is extremely comfortable, clean and pleasant. Breakfast and dinner were perfect. A lot of choice, fresh ingredients and a local touch make it all worthwhile. We would recommend this to everyone. We already did to our friends. We will certainly return! This is one of the rare hotels that we would give for service, location, accomodation and food a 9/10. |
All went very well and the Hotel Villalba was perfect. |
Excellent hotel - clean, comfortable, large room and bathroom We were the only English residents (appeared to be mainly German clients) Spa excellent and included in package Restaurant good but very rich food and somewhat limited for non-meat eaters. Dinner menu did not change at all through week Village 20 mins walk steep downhill (uphill back!) - 2 restaurants next door to each other with very similar names - we use El Sarmiento which was excellent in terms of food, decor and staff Vilaflor tends to get colder in October and we found it to be in fog several days having spent our days walking above the cloud around Teide or on the coast in brilliant sunshine |
