Donkey on the Beach
, Cobbs Cross, Falmouth Harbour.
Donkey on the Beach is not actually on the beach, but it’s only a short walk or drive away. Owners Danilo and Orietta so fell in love with Antigua that they bought a plot and built a house here. While living in one apartment, the other three are available to rent. Offering views of Falmouth Harbour, Donkey on the Beach is a three minute drive from English Harbour and five minutes drive from Pigeon Point beach.
Up on the top floor, Yellow apartment has two double bedrooms so can be booked for two or four guests. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan, air conditioning and an en-suite bathroom. The main room has a four-poster bed with curtains. The apartment also has a large fully equipped kitchen and a spacious living room with a flatscreen television. The beautiful veranda gives breathtaking views of Falmouth Harbour.
Gold and Turquoise apartments each have a double bedroom with a canopy bed, ceiling fan, air conditioning, flatscreen television, and a bathroom with a big shower. There is also a Italian kitchen with all mod cons and a verandah with outdoor furniture facing the view.
For provisions, there is a supermarket just a five minute walk away and there are several bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.
Just past the swanky Antigua Yacht Club, Pigeon Point beach is quiet during the week but comes alive at weekends. For a quiet time at any time head just a little bit further to Windward Bay beach. Best of all is Rendezvous Bay, but you will need to walk or take a 4x4 or a boat to get there. There are also many sports activities available: sailing (the trade winds make Antigua the perfect place for sailors) deep-sea fishing (marlin, tuna, barracuda, wahoo and mahi mahi abound in these waters), water skiing, windsurfing and kite-surfing, golf, hiking and horse riding.
