Nestled in the historic town of Eymet, in the Dordogne region of South West France, is the boutique chambres d'hotes know simply as 52 Eymet. Owners Catherine and Jean-Louis worked in London for over 35 years before they returned to their homeland and fell in love with the warmth and charm of Eymet.
They undertook a full refurbishment of their little village house before opening it as a boutique B&B. The house has five beautiful guestrooms, all en-suite and decorated in a French vintage style. The rooms are filled with charming details in a perfect French manner. Room sizes range from a modest 14m2 to a spacious 27m2, all with pure cotton sheets, feather duvets and fluffy white towels.
There is a generous guest sitting room that looks out onto the street, and also a farmhouse-style kitchen for breakfasts. In the Summer, there is also a pretty patio at the rear of the house in which you can relax, either at the end of the day or for an alfresco breakfast before a day spent discovering the area.
52 Eymet is a stone’s throw from the popular village square, where there is a traditional market held every Thursday, with local farmers and specialists selling their wares. In summer, the “marche gourmand” on Thursday evenings is where locals and tourists mix to enjoy and sample the local cuisine, and stroll amongst market stalls.
