Château Mont d’Onel is an adults-only chambres d'hotes (Bed and Breakfast) perched on the top of a hill where it enjoys expansive views over the town and the Dordogne river. A five minute walk down the private footpath leads to the historic little town of Couze-et-Saint-Front, where you will find all of the joys of French village life.
Set in 80 acres of parkland and woods, this historic 13th century château offers a heated swimming pool, tennis court and petanque area. The terrace is a great place to sit out and enjoy the view and a glass of local wine, or alternatively there are lots of walks around the grounds.
The interior of the chateau combines the elegance and quality that you would naturally expect of a historic French chateau. There are two salons on the ground floor, one with a TV that includes English channels. The breakfast room is equally beautiful, more like a top class restaurant.
The guest rooms are wonderfully spacious, with super-kingsize beds (or large twin beds) and a comfy sitting area with elegant chairs. The beds have 300 thread Egyptian cotton sheets, and facilities include tea and coffee-making, free wi-fi, a mini-fridge and an iron. This is all finished of by a big, luxuriously appointed bathroom with a walk-in shower, hairdryer and complimentary Basic Earth toiletries.
The local village has three excellent restaurants and two bars, all within 5 mminutes walk of the hotel. There are other villages within easy reach, plus medieval castles, caves with prehistoric cave-paintings and an abundance of cycling, canoeing and hiking opportunities.
