The Clos des Abeilles is a charming rural guesthouse in a former coaching inn, surrounded by vineyards in the heart of Entre-Deux-Mer near Saint Emilion. It lies a little to the south of the Dordogne river between Bordeaux and Bergerac.
There are plenty of places to sit outside in the garden, and also a deck area where breakfast and dinner is served on warm days. Breakfast consists of a selection of teas, coffees, freshly-squeezed juices, fresh fruit salads, tasty French bread, homemade jams and yogurts. A candle-lit table d'hotes dinner is offered, in the garden or on the patio in summer, or in the dining room in winter. Starter, main course, cheese, dessert and wine are included in the menu. This needs to be booked at least 24 hours in advance. When the kitchen is closed gourmet cold platters of local specialities are available (and of course wine counts as a local speciality!).
The five comfortable guest rooms are fully equipped with wi-fi, flatscreen televisions and Italian showers in the en-suite bathrooms. Three rooms have double beds, one can host up to four people in single beds and there is a suite able to accommodate a family, that also includes a small private kitchen.
