L'Estancat.
18 Rue de l'Eglise, Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
At the heart of the Bearn region between Pau and Lourdes, looking straight across to the mountains of the Pyrenees, L’Estancat maison d’hôtes welcomes guests to its 3 spacious and comfortable rooms overlooking a large wooded garden. Owner Catherine has completed a beautiful restoration of her ancient farmhouse and filled it with genuine French country charm.
Catherine serves an excellent breakfast of fresh products including a seasonal fruit salad and homemade cakes. This can be adapted to suit the preference and the needs of guests. The pretty little living room is the setting for breakfast, or a place to sit and read or chat at any time of the day. However on sunny days the chance to relocate to the garden will be irresistible.
As well free car parking L’Estancat has a space in the old farm buildings for secure storage of bicycles and motorbikes, and even a little workshop for minor running repairs. Catherine can suggest numerous routes of all severities for walking, cycling or motorcycling (or cars, of course).
The Double room is a light, comfortable room for two with an en-suite bathroom and a balcony overlooking the garden and facing the Pyrenees. The Family Room is ideal for a family or friends as it provides two adjoining bedrooms with an en-suite bathroom and the same balcony facing the mountains. For maximum privacy and space, La Bordeta is in a separate building with a private terrace overlooking the courtyard and garden. It has twin beds and a small double separated by a curtain, and as well as the bathroom it includes a small lounge and kitchenette.
The Pyrenean foothills are a great location for lovers of nature, outdoor pastimes, grand landscapes and unique histories and traditions. Straight from the house, walkers or cyclists can head out on the green-route from Lourdes to Pau, enjoying the peaceful fields and streams.
