La Vagabonde.
36 Chemin de l’Estagnet, Saint Tropez, Provence.
La Vagabonde is like a small corner of paradise, set in the conservation area of Baie de Canebiers, just a mile from the centre of Sant Tropez. It lies within a delightful garden filled with roses, agapanthus and bougainvillea, and screened by tall pine trees.
This chambres d'hôte (B&B) has just four bedrooms, all of them on the ground floor with a private terrace leading into the garden. The rooms are air-conditioned, served by wi-fi, and have a generous walk-in rain-shower in the bathroom.
The charming bohemian atmosphere of La Vagabonde is a delight for the senses. There's a small swimming pool to cool off, a decked terrace, and a host of little corners around the garden with chairs and a rustic "Robinson Crusoe" shelter of driftwood. Although it may be hard to tear oneself away, it's only a short walk (100m) to the beach at Canebiers. A slightly longer walk follows the coastal trail around the headland to Les Salins beach. Or go the other way and it's really not too far before you arrive in the centre of Saint Tropez itself, packed with bars and restaurants where the big yachts moor up right against the promenade.
Breakfast is included in the room rates. For other meals there are restaurants nearby, and a myriad more in the centre of town.
