This half-timbered historic house was built in the 15th century and became a guest house in 2010. La Maison Pavie enjoys a quiet location in the historic heart of Dinan, right opposite the Basilica St Saveur. While it retains all of it's original features, it is also a paragon of contemporary design, blending the two styles in a clever harmony.

The oh-so-stylish wood-panelled lounge has a fireplace, Gervasoni furniture, a Bang & Olufsen stereo and an exceptional view of the Basilique St-Sauveur. A large dining room overlooks the garden, where a lavish breakfast will be served by your host and where you can also enjoy a home-cooked meal in the evening. Guest may sit out in the quiet, shady garden for a final relaxation at the end of a day.

5 comfortable bedrooms have a view of either the St Saveur Square or the courtyard garden. They are beautifully decorated and feature a private bathroom and toilet, a flat-screen LED TV, a 160x200cm bed and free Wifi. Their position on the first, second and third floors makes them unsuitable for guests with limited mobility.

La Maison Pavie is named after Auguste Pavie, a French explorer and diplomat, who was born there in 1847. Between 1872 and 1895, Auguste Pavie travelled through Siam and Indochina, from Vietnam to Laos, via Angkor and Saigon. Travelling and Indochina are the themes that inspired the choice of materials, colours, furnishings and lights, which all contribute to the warm and contemporary feel of the house. Each guest room is named after a town visited by Auguste. Many features of the house date right back to the 1600's: the granite columns and timbered porch at the front, and the staircase and wattle-and-daub walls at the top of the house. The massive oak floorboards are probably 17th century and the panelling and fireplace in the sitting room reflect 18th century sophistication.
