Way out on the edge of the Camargue, just a short distance from a sandy beach, a gentle stroll from the little town of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, we find Le Mas des Rièges & Spa. It's an aparthotel, that's to say it has studio-style bungalows instead of just rooms. So guests have more space, more freedom, and more privacy too.
Each bungalow has a bedroom, living room, kitchenette, bathroom, toilet and a terrace with outdoor furniture. You could make your own breakfast in the kitchen, or order up a French breakfast tray to be brought and served on your terrace. The bungalows are equipped with dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffee machine, wi-fi, safe and air-conditioning. Family accommodation is available too, or go for something really special and choose the gypsy caravan.
There's a large swimming pool, surrounded by and equally large terrace with sunbeds and sunshades. The spa provides a private jacuzzi, Finnish sauna, massage rooms and a selection of Ella Baché beauty products.
The Camargue is famous for it's white horses, usually pictured galloping through the surf on a deserted beach (they do!), so don't be surprised to wake up to find a beautiful white horse looking over the fence at you. A short trip out on the Camargue marshes will take you to one of the lagoons where you can see the equally-famous pink flamingoes.
The South of France is best known for the sophisticated resorts like Nice, Cannes and St Tropez, but here in the heart of the Camargue Le Mas des Rièges delivers an altogether different pace of life full of nature and tranquillity.
