Sète is an “island” on the narrow strip of land that separates the Thau lagoon from the Mediterranean Sea. The town wraps itself around the base of the hill and it’s harbour area is part of the waterway joining the two bodies of water. Meanwhile up on the hill, La Singulière welcomes you to a different world; one where you can soak up the spectacular views, or settle in the shade of the pine trees listening to the chirping of the cicadas.

There may only be five guest rooms in this B&B, but they will be well-pampered guests. The terrace and pool are a delight of relaxation, but the spa takes that one step further. Here, Melanie provides body and facial care using l’Occitane en Provence products while massage is also available.

The dining room stands alongside the pool terrace and with the doors flung open the two blend into one. Daily continental breakfast is served here.

The five distinctive guest rooms each take inspiration from the Sète peninsula. This means soft natural colours and textures with odd flashes of exuberance to reflect the dynamism of the Mediterranean. All the rooms except one have a private terrace viewing either the garden or the sea. And of course they are all provided with air-conditioning, an en-suite bathroom, hairdryer, tea and coffee-making and l’Occitane toiletries.

Beach activities are all available nearby, including a kite-surf school (you know you always wanted to!). In the town there are museums, art galleries and a variety of special events throughout the summer. The town of Sète (about a kilometre away) is also the place to find lots of restaurants for dinner.
