The exterior of Château La Tour Carnet is magnificent, but it pales in comparison with the interiors. All the rooms are amazingly sumptuous, absolutely pristine, and with enough wow-factor to boggle the imagination.

Lovers of French wine will know the name, a grand cru winery that is one of the the oldest wine estates in Médoc. At any moment in time, just two couples have the privilege of staying in this wonderful chateau. Words cannot possibly describe the abundant luxury of the grand dining room, the music room and the salon. Even the photos are just a hint of the opulence within.

The two suites are a fine match for the remainder of the chateau and the grounds, perhaps even more sumptuous. Imbued with a literary spirit, the La Boétie Suite bears all the hallmarks of its richly cultured past. The unique décor features wood panelling engraved with historic scenes and rich fabrics fit for any royal palace. There’s a huge four-poster bed and a luxurious en-suite shower-room with limewashed walls. The sumptuously decorated Michel de Montaigne Suite combines medieval influences and renaissance décor. Its expertly crafted ambience invites the guest to travel through time, savouring inspiration and relaxation. There’s another massive four-poster bed here and a lavish antique-style bathroom featuring delicately tiled floor and black Marquina marble.

Daily breakfast is served in your suite or the dining room. Naturally a stay here is an opportunity to visit a renowned Bordeaux winery, as well as to take a long relaxing walk in the grounds of the chateau. Beyond the estate there are the woods and vineyards of Medoc, the Gironde estuary, the coastal dunes and long sandy beaches, and the historic city of Bordeaux. For an extra special treat, leave your car behind and travel in M. Magrez’s chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce Phantom.
