Buckland Manor
, Broadway, Worcestershire.
One of the most elegant country house hotels in the Cotswolds, Buckland Manor is tucked away in a tranquil corner of the village of Buckland, next to the old village church. Set in 10 acres of grounds, which blend seamlessly into the village, the beautiful manor house is unmarked by the passing of time; it is an idyllic setting from which to enjoy an exceptionally warm welcome, tantalising menus lovingly crafted from local ingredients and breath-taking Cotswold scenery.
Buckland Manor truly encapsulates the feeling of being at the home of a friend. A very good friend who produces afternoon tea on request, fine aperitifs before dinner, suggests the perfect wines and doesn't mind how late you get up before serving a hearty breakfast.
Head Chef, William Guthrie and his team work tirelessly to create mouthwatering menus that are English at their core and stay true to location, whilst remaining innovative and modern. Menus feature fresh local produce from the neighbouring Vale of Evesham. Fresh herbs are grown in the manor’s own grounds and, as you would expect in a house of this heritage, there is a magnificent wine cellar.
A further speciality is a sumptuous home-made afternoon tea of finger sandwiches, fruit and plain scones with clotted cream and seasonal preserve, and a selection of delicious cakes. Served with your choice of teas or coffee.
The 15 bedrooms at Buckland Manor are luxuriously appointed and provide the highest standards of comfort, all individually furnished with antiques and fine fabrics. Naturally all come with crisp white linen, plumped up pillows and Vispring beds to guarantee that perfect night’s slumber. Top-of-the-range is the Superior Four-Poster Room, perfect for a romantic getaway. This large oak-panelled room features an original fireplace, large bathroom with bath and walk-in shower and of course the four-poster bed hung with heavy drapes.
