Cedar Manor Hotel.
Ambleside Road, Windermere, Cumbria.
This 150-year-old country house hotel is located in quiet gardens just a short walk from Lake Windermere and the town centre. It features 10 beautiful hotel rooms and suites including the award-winning Coach House Suite.
The Cedar Manor's two lounges, bar and restaurant all look out over the well-tended gardens full of trees and lawns. Beyond the garden there are views of the Lake District's hills and fells.
The creative ideas of Head Chef Roger Pergl-Wilson have won the Cedar Manor Restaurant several awards, most particularly for the consistent quality, seasonality and local-sourcing of the menus. Residents and non-residents alike are able to enjoy a fine dining experience in the beautiful dining room. These qualities are not just reserved for evening diners though: the lounge and bar serve local ales and lagers from several Lakeland micro-breweries, there is also the famous local damson gin and lunchtime snacks include Morecambe Bay potted shrimps and much, much more.
The guest rooms and suites are all designed by a local interior designer and are named after local villages, lakes or fells. They feature sumptuous materials in a traditional style with just a twist of contemporary. Each one has Egyptian cotton bed-linen, anti-allergy pillows and duvets, flat-screen TV, an iPod dock, wi-fi, tea and coffee-making and big fluffy towels in the bathroom.
