Chesters Stables started life in 1891 as part of the Chesters Estate, right beside the line of Hadrian's Wall and the Chesters Roman Fort. Reborn in 2018, these seven luxury self-catering Stable Suites now rest amid the landscaped Walwick Hall Country Estate in the heart of Northumberland. From the hand-made kitchens, marble bathrooms and sumptuous deep-pile carpets to the toe-warming stoves, this luxury self-catering accommodation offers a true rural retreat. All seven of the self-catering suites in the stables has the benefit of a private entrance, with access along a grassy path to Walwick Hall Hotel and the whole estate.

Just along the road is the Walwick Hall Hotel, so guests at Chesters Stables can enjoy the luxuries of a boutique hotel while experiencing the complete privacy and peace of a fully-equipped Stable Suite. Walwick Hall provides a spa, gym and pool and guests in the Stables can also   receive a revitalising spa treatment from one of the Germaine de Capuccini therapists who will bring along everything necessary to transform your suite into a relaxing spa haven.

Each Stable Suite comes with a handmade kitchen filled to the brim with all the mod-cons you'll need to prepare meals. But you're on holiday, so maybe you don't want to cook but do want to stay in. The Walwick chefs can prepare a range of seasonal meals and deliver them to you with simple heating instructions. Or, if you’re celebrating a special occasion and would like to enjoy a private dining experience, one of the chefs will come to cook for you in your suite. If you prefer to go out, you can book a table in The Dining Room at Walwick Hall Hotel, where you can choose from a selection of fresh and seasonal dishes from the breakfast, lunch, early evening and dinner menus.

From generous mezzanine floors with large glass frontages to original stable detailing dividing the living space, each of the Stable Suites is unique in design and individual in taste. The accommodation includes one, two, three and four bedroom suites. Everything you’d expect from a luxury bolt-hole comes as standard; king-sized bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, expansive living areas with wood-burning stoves, a country-style kitchen with a dining area where guests can rustle up everything from leisurely breakfasts to intimate candlelit meals (or have the chef do it for you, of course). Both The Carriage House and The Stallion Suite are dog-friendly, meaning your best friend can come and enjoy a little luxury too.

You won't want to miss Vindolanda, the Chesters Roman Fort and Hadrian's Wall when you visit Chesters Stables. Then for city dwellers especially, the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park is Europe's largest area of protected night sky and officially England's best spot to enjoy star gazing. Kielder Water and Forest Park are only a few miles away, and the plummeting waters of Hareshaw Linn Waterfall is a fabulous day out. Beyond that, there are houses, castles and gardens all around just begging to be visited.

While the Coronavirus precautions are in place, some facilities may not be available, including the spa, pool and gym, the shuttle bus service and the chef-prepared menus.
