Fischer's Baslow Hall.
Calver Road, Baslow, Derbyshire.
The location of Fischer's Baslow Hall Hotel and Restaurant could hardly be more stunning. It's a Grade II listed, stone-built Edwardian manor house standing on the edge of Baslow, a picturesque village in Derbyshire. The countryside of the Peak District with its iconic walks and rich cultural heritage is right on the doorstep. Fischer’s is always professional yet relaxed and friendly, a home from home where you can enjoy being pampered and refreshed; a roaring log fire in the lounge for wintry days or gorgeous landscaped gardens to make the most of an English summer evening.
Baslow Hall is everything an English country house should be, with stone-mullioned windows, rich furnishings, wood panelling, big fireplaces and an immaculately tended garden. Oh that garden! Smooth, verdant lawns surrounded by cottage garden borders filled with sweet-scented traditional flowers. An Arboretum planted with specimen trees and the classical kitchen garden. Perfectly clipped yew and box hedges catch the eye, whilst hidden paths lead to secluded corners, a pond or secret bridge.
At the heart of Fischer's is the restaurant, because Max Fischer is first-and-foremost a chef. The dining room is classically set with crisp white table cloths and napkins, polished silver cutlery and gleaming glassware. It's the perfect setting in which to enjoy the inventive modern British cuisine. Alternatively take a slightly less formal meal at The Kitchen Bench. This is the place to witness a first-class chef and kitchen in action, whilst you enjoy the Taste of Britain tasting menu prepared before your eyes.
Each one of the eleven luxurious bedrooms is individually styled with its own unique character. You’ll find super comfortable beds made up with smooth Egyptian cotton bedding, sumptuous white towels and robes. The organic hand-made toiletry range is sourced from the Sedbergh Soap Company, and is suitable for the most sensitive skin. Everything is here to enhance your feelings of indulgence and relaxation. And obviously, all rooms are also equipped with all the modern essentials, including free WiFi. The Garden Rooms look out onto their own private walled courtyard garden, complete with terraces and seating for relaxing drinks.
Derbyshire and the Peak District have so much to offer every visitor, whatever your passions and interests. Obviously, the area is renowned for world class walks and trails around the magnificent peaks and dales, but Derbyshire is also home to some of the country’s finest stately homes, most notably Chatsworth House but don't miss out Bolsover Castle, Hardwick Hall, Hardwick Old Hall and Kedleston Manor too.
