Forest Country House
, Gilfach Lane, Newtown.
The Forest Country House is a luxury bed-and-breakfast set in 4 acres of landscaped gardens not far from Newtown, Powys. This large Victorian house built around 1850 provides high-quality accommodation for walkers, cyclists, families and dog-owners. It's a great location for exploring mid-Wales.
The garden has something for everyone. There's a terrace for sitting out for tea or a drink, acres of lawns and a tennis court. There's also a children's play area with a slide, a swing and a timber fort, as well as a games room inside. There is a kennel for pets and a secure place for storing bikes.
The guest's sitting room is like a home-from-home with magazines, books and games, and even a Bechstein grand piano. Attached to the breakfast room is a kitchenette where guests might choose to prepare a snack or a picnic.
The rooms are all named after nearby Welsh forests. Radnor has a super-kingsize bed. Hafren has a four-poster. Both have private sitting areas. Dyfi has room for a child's extra bed. Vyrnwy has room for a child's cot and Ceri has a special bathroom with additional mobility aids. All the rooms have views of the garden, a flatscreen TV, tea and coffee-making and an en-suite bathroom of course.
