Glencoe House
, Glencoe, West Highlands.
Glencoe House is more than a hotel, it is an experience. It's not cheap of course, but it will leave fantastic memories long after the bill has been forgotten. This magical Victorian country house stands in acres of grounds high above Loch Leven.
The seven suites in the main house are quite simply, huge. Each one is the size of a moderate house with a bedroom (or two), an immense sitting room with sofas, a dining corner and a desk, and a bathroom that will pander to your every whim. The views from the massive windows are just out-of-this-world.
Only slightly less extravagant than the Glencoe Suites are the Belltower Suites which are "only" the size of a small house. These cottage-style suites are housed in an adjoining building with private walled terraces and jacuzzis, mezzanine bedrooms and a kitchen that takes self-catering to a whole new level.
In the Glencoe House Suites all meals are served at you own dining table in the privacy of your suite. Take breakfast with a stunning view of Loch leven or the Glencoe mountains. Then if you choose the 5 course dinner, that too will be brought to your room along with your choice of wine or other drinks.
The Bell Tower Suites are also fully catered in a slightly less formal style. Everything you need for a magnificant breakfast is there in your own kitchen. For dinner, guests can book a 5 course candle-lit dinner in the Great Hall, or choose from a wide range of pre-prepared gourmet meals and simply slip them into the Aga. Sit back with something from your bar while it cooks and enjoy it in seclusion in your suite or on your terrace.
Guests are encouraged to stroll through the 10 acres of gardens laid out by Lord Strathcona, or wander further afield. The Scottish highlands offer the most magnificent scenery you will see anywhere.
