The Houblon Arms
, Oasby, Lincolnshire.
The Houblon Arms is one of the oldest hostelries in Lincolnshire, situated in the picturesque village of Oasby just a short drive from Grantham and Sleaford. With original oak beams and stone walls, this free house is a real English hostelry and not just some interior designer's pipe dream. The four boutique rooms have bespoke solid oak four poster beds, high quality linens and private hot tubs to make for a perfect luxurious break.
The restaurant features exposed stone work, classical oil paintings and two fires. The lunchtime menu includes so many pub favourites such as ploughman's lunch, burgers, steak sandwiches, North Sea fish and chips and a variety of delicious sandwiches. In the evening the menu becomes a little more formal with steaks, duck, salmon, pork tenderloin, vegetarian wellington and more. Alongside the restaurant, the bar delivers cask ales and premium lagers, flavoured gins and vodkas, a wide selection of wines, champagnes and cocktails in a comfy ambience.
Breakfast for residents centres on a "proper" cooked breakfast, with a selection of egg dishes as well as the "Full Houblon" (you can guess!). For a lighter start to the day there is fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, cereals, pastries and toast.
The four guest rooms are individually and luxuriously furnished with big solid oak four-poster beds and decoration of artwork and tapestries. There is a flat-screen TV and external to the room, a relaxing private outdoor hot tub. The en-suite shower room includes dressing gowns, slippers and Cole & Lewis toiletries. The luxuries are finished off with a minibar fridge and a Tassimo coffee machine.
