North House is a Grade II listed townhouse hotel situated in the heart of Cowes old town. Built in the 1850's, it retains many of the original features and period quality, including its attractive period fireplaces. The hotel is located within a conservation area, close to the high street and the array of shops, restaurants, marinas and the various yacht clubs of Cowes.
Most unusual for a hotel in town, North House has its own swimming pool, along with a terrace and garden. Inside there is a library/lounge and a bar.
Breakfast could include eggs "any way you like", full English breakfast of course, along with the usual array of cereals, croissants, juices and more. Later in the day the restaurant has an excellent choice including many fish and seafood dishes, as one would expect from a location so close to the sea. The wine list is pretty impressive too.
There are fourteen guest bedrooms, some with captivating sea views. They are simply divided into Cosy, Comfy and Spacious. Even the Cosy are not that small typically 20 sqm with a king-size bed. The Comfy rooms are 20-30 sqm and some of these have freestanding bathtubs for a special treat. The Spacious rooms have super-kingsize beds, a sitting area, a desk and most have free-standing bathtubs along with separate walk-in showers.
The high-speed passenger ferry service to Southampton is only a short walk from North House, making the journey time from London only 2 hours. Queen Victoria's favourite home, Osborne House is just a short drive away on the other side of Cowes.
