, Ireby, Bassenthwaite, Cumbria.
Overwater Hall is a hotel of unpretentious luxury and warm hospitality, tucked away in the unspoilt beauty of the Lake District. Set in 18 acres of formal gardens and woodland, and with the dramatic backdrop of Skiddaw and the Uldale Fells the hotel offers the perfect base for a truly relaxing holiday, in the peaceful surroundings of the Lake District.
This grade 2 listed country house has been gently and sympathetically refurbished, resulting in a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary styles.
There's lots of room, not just in the extensive grounds, but guests also have the bar and two lounges in which to relax. Sitting by the drawing room window, it's possible to watch the red squirrels playing on the lawn.
The formally-styled dining room is open for dinner every day, and for afternoon tea six days per week. The daily breakfasts are a great start to the day, with a generous choice of locally-sourced ingredients.
All eleven en-suite bedrooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. There are all the finishing touches to make your stay special: fresh fruit and flowers, mineral water, fresh milk on the hot drinks tray, fluffy bathrobes and designer toiletries by Gilchrist & Soames. Beds are topped with duvets wrapped in luxurious Egyptian Cotton covers, or traditional sheets and blankets of you prefer. The bathrooms are luxuriously appointed with large double-ended baths and separate shower units.
