Perched high on a hillside and nestled amongst some 40 acres of ancient woodlands, Plas Tan-Yr-Allt is a historic country house providing luxurious bed and breakfast accommodation. The amazing position offers views over the Glaslyn Estuary, Ffestiniog Steam Railway, Harlech Castle and the mountains beyond.

The Plas (much easier to say!) is a Regency villa built by William Madocks, the 18th century entrepreneur who created Porthmadog as an outlet for his slate quarries. Other visitors or residents have included Percy Bysshe Shelley, opera singer Elizabeth Billington, writer E F Benson and Miss Hilda Greaves, the aunt of the founder of Portmeirion.

There are just three luxuriously appointed bedrooms, packed full of period features and furnishings. They all have spectacular views, goose-down pillows and duvet (non-allergenic option), Egyptian cotton sheets, television, coffe-machine, hospitality tray, mini-fridge, underfloor heating in the bathroom, and much more besides.

Breakfast is served each morning in the dining room with breathtaking views over the Glaslyn Estuary to the sea and mountains beyond. In the evenings, the Plas recommends Y Swgar restaurant in Tremadoc so they provide a fully flexible complimentary shuttle service down to the village.
