Summer Hill Guest House.
Forest Road, Betws-y-Coed, Snowdonia.
Summer Hill is a boutique guest house in a Victorian house in the famous Snowdonia village of Betws-y-Coed. Just 50m from the picturesque Pont y Pair Bridge over the River Llugwy, it is close to the heart of the village.
The garden surrounding Summer Hill is a riot of greenery that quickly blends into the hills and forest that surround it. There are various little corners to sit and enjoy the view of the garden and river. Meanwhile indoors there is a lounge and the south-facing conservatory/breakfast room.
The eight bedrooms all have an en-suite bathroom and between them offer a choice of double, kingsize, super-king or twin beds. The Tryfan room also has a sofa bed to sleep a child or an extra adult. In contrast, Yr Elen is a single room with a 4ft bed. All rooms have a flat-screen TV, bathrobes and slippers, and tea and coffee making facilities. Nearly all have a view of the garden or over the trees to the river.
Summer Hill is rated No 1 in Betws-y-Coed by TripAdvisor, and scores a near perfect 5 stars. Beyond the village, the whole of Snowdonia National Park is on the doorstep, topped of course by Snowdon itself. The Swallow Falls are just up the road, as is the Gwydir Forest Park. For active visitors there is Zip World (the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe), Surf Snowdonia and the National White Water Centre. For something altogether more peaceful, visit the National Trust's Bodnant Gardens.
