The Waterfront.
18-20 Shore St, Anstruther, East Neuk.
When it comes to The Waterfront B&B, the name tells you all you need to know. Combining a Bed & Breakfast with a restaurant, The Waterfront is just a few steps from the marina and harbour.
The harbour front is a great place to pause awhile and watch the boats come and go in the marina, but for some peaceful solitude The Waterfront also has a small courtyard garden behind.
In a location such as this on the Firth of Forth, it's hardly surprising that the restaurant menu is bursting with seafood dishes sourced from local suppliers. There are plenty of other choices too, and again the meat and vegetables (and even the beer) come from small local businesses in the surrounding area. Naturally the breakfast menu includes grilled kippers and smoked Scottish haddock as well as the usual full Scottish breakfast, various egg choices and some vegetarian options.
All the bedrooms feature cool, contemporary decor with large flat screen TVs, en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee facilities and a selection of soaps and toiletries. Most rooms are double or twin but there are economically-priced single rooms, family rooms and best of all are the Superior rooms with panoramic views of the harbour and the Firth of Forth.
Anstruther proudly proclaims itself as the heart of the East Neuk of Fife. With origins in herring fishing, today the marina is filled with pleasure vessels and Anstruther is known as a holiday destination. The Scottish Fisheries Museum, pleasure cruises, the Fife Coastal Path, Scotland's Secret Bunker, world famous golf courses, the Isle of May bird sanctuary and many more attractions, will make this a visit to remember.
