B&B Ai Casai.
Via Belvedere 9, Mezzolago, Trento.
Nestled in a cleft in the mountain, B&B Ai Casai is a small country bed-and-breakfast that looks out on one of the smaller and less well-known of the Italian Lakes. It’s a place to soak up the solitude of the mountains well away from the busier towns and resorts.
Backed by a hillside of trees, the garden tumbles and rolls down the hill to the lakeside road and Lago di Ledro itself. There’s a swimming pool for the summer months, and sun beds and outdoor furniture are distributed all around. Although the B&B is justifiably popular with active couples, children are well catered-for too, with push-chairs, high-chairs and a playground area.
A typically Italian breakfast of sweet and savoury is served daily, out on the terrace whenever the weather permits. There are a number of restaurants nearby for other meals (ask for recommendations) and occasional barbecue evenings.
Comfortable bedrooms feature access to a shared patio and the spectacular views that distinguish Ai Casai. They also have wi-fi and a satellite television, en-suite bathroom, hairdryer and free toiletries.
Bikes are available for taking a gentle pedal around the lake, while more energetic riders can bring their own and enjoy the mountains to their fullest. There are plenty of routes for walking too, and of course Michela and Renzo are well geared-up for active pursuits with bike-parking and a drying rack for outdoor clothes. In winter, skiing is available in the mountains and the nearest ski-lift is about 17km away.

There are no superlatives to do justice to the view.
