Hotel Villa Aurora
, Frazione Sossana 2, Lezzeno.
Hotel Villa Aurora has been in the ownership of the Gregorio family since 1965. Right by the shore of Lake Como, it is located in a beautiful setting among mountains, the lake, woodland and flowers. The Hotel dates back to the early 20th century and has preserved all the charm of the old lakeside villas but with all the modern amenities and services a guest could wish for.
The position right by the shore of the lake is superb. and affords the hotel guests free access to the beach and sun deck with sun loungers and umbrellas. Canoes, kayaks and bikes are available free of charge and there is a waterski school right alongside.
The Villa Aurora hotel has 2 bars and an attractive breakfast room. Breakfast is an important meal, and the Aurora won’t let you down. Special diets such as gluten-free are readily catered-for. Next door is the restaurant and pizzeria. Complete with a wonderful terrace with idyllic views of Lake Como and Comacina Island, the chefs under the supervision of owner Stefano Gregorio produce authentic flavours with a touch of modern creativity. The main a la carte menu is backed up by sourdough pizzas made in a traditional wood-fired oven
The guest rooms, suitable for couples, families, or singles, can have a lake or mountain view. They have wooden furniture painted in warm and natural shades, and an en-suite bathroom with shower. Naturally the best rooms are the Lake View rooms on the front of the house and these are larger as well as enjoying the spectacular views. Best of all are the rooms with a juliet balcony complete with a couple of chairs.
Lezzeno has existed as a village or town since Roman times. It has a long and interesting history worthy of a little study during a visit to Villa Aurora. It has fallen under the rule of Spanish, Austrian, French, Austrian (again) and finally Italian control. At one time the town was famous for its witches; perhaps that’s why so many people fall under the spell of the Lake Como scenery to this day.
