Hotel Becher
, Calle del Fruttarol, Venice, Veneto.
Shouldn’t a Venetian hotel evoke all of the atmosphere and ambience of this unique city? We find it just about impossible to imagine anything that could personify the spirit of Venice better than Hotel Becher.
In true Venetian fashion, Hotel Becher sits right on the canal so guests can arrive by water taxi straight to the door. Inside they will find sumptuous fabrics and ornate furnishings that reflect the tradition and history of Venice. The position of the hotel is right in the heart of the city, 2 minutes from the Fenice Opera, and 5 minutes from the Rialto Bridge, St Mark’s Basilica and the Ducal Palace.
The hotel features period furniture, generous drapes and elaborate wallpaper throughout and there are lamps of Murano glass. There are places to sit and watch the world go by on the canal, especially recommended is the little jetty that protrudes right over the water of the canal. Breakfasts are generous, and served in a lovely breakfast room that is richly decorated like everywhere in the hotel.
Guest rooms range from standard doubles (which some people find a bit small) right up through to generously-proportioned junior suites. The rooms have ample facilities like flatscreen televisions, air-conditioning, safe, minibar and slippers but it is the elaborate decoration that really stands out. The style of the 18th century has been carried through everywhere. Some rooms also have the additional benefit of a small balcony overlooking the canal, for the ultimate Venice experience.
