Camin Hotel Colmegna.
Via Angelo Palazzi 1, Colmegna.
There are very few locations that can compete with Camin Hotel Colmegna. The four star hotel is set on the edge of Lake Maggiore, squeezed between two little stone harbours, facing west to enjoy the fabulous sunsets. There are terraces galore: terraces for eating, terraces for relaxing and terraces for sunbathing, all within feet of the water. Then stretching out along the lake shore is a parkland of trees paths for the perfect romantic walk.
The Tiffany restaurant serves both lunch and dinner. Innovation is blended with tradition. The chef is a great believer in flavours that are fresh and wholesome, but never too elaborate, so as not to lose the essence of each individual ingredient. Food miles are kept to a minimum with trout, pike and perch caught in the lake, and local cheese, ham and goat. And of course, don’t miss the scrummy desserts and fine wines.
The lovely rooms and suites are decorated in pastel hues. For those on a budget, the smaller rooms are just as lovely as the more generous ones. For families there are family suites with two bedrooms and all the little accessories needed for a baby. But for the ultimate luxury the deluxe rooms and junior suites are wonderful and the La Torretta suite is out-of-this-world. Whichever room you choose, you’ll get a flatscreen TV, wi-fi, air-conditioning, a Nespresso machine, a safe, a minibar and more besides. Most rooms have a fabulous view of the lake while the remainder look onto the parkland garden.
Gentle relaxation and active holidays are both accommodated at Camin Hotel Colmegna. The hills behind provide walking and cycling trails. The lake in front has opportunities for boating and sailing. Or simply stay put for yoga, wellness, the sauna, a jacuzzi or the children’s play area.
