Capo Torre Resort B&B.
Via Torre del Capo, 42, Albisola Superiore, Liguria.
Every superlative pales into insignificance at Capo Torre so we have to let the photos speak for themselves. Yet despite the crisp architecture, expansive terrace and stunning sea views, this is an intimate little B&B with friendly hosts. Really the best of both worlds.
Of course everything centres around the chlorine-free infinity pool hanging on the edge of the cliff. All around the terrace are loungers for sun-bathing, tables with parasols for a drink in the shade, viewing platforms suspended high above the shoreline and all-glass handrails to ensure you don’t miss one centimetre of the view. Add in the poolside bar and the jacuzzi and you really are approaching perfection. The small spa has a lounge area, sauna and turkish bath.
The cutting-edge modern design follows through into the guest rooms, off which there are only three. All this luxury for just three families or couples. It goes without saying that they include all the facilities like air-conditioning, flatscreen TV, minibar, balcony and a private bathroom with bidet, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. Once again the views take centre-stage and the big windows ensure that nothing can interrupt the view of the sea.
Andrea and Barbara ensure a welcome for everyone, so two of their rooms are suitable for a family with children and there is a play area, plus books, games and television channels to keep them amused. Less mobile guests are fully catered-for, with the entire house being wheelchair accessible.
Capo Torre occupies a quiet position on the cliff, backed by olive trees and a few large villas. There’s a tiny rocky foreshore at the bottom of the cliff and the nearest beach is in Albisola Superiore, about a mile away.
We Say
We nearly missed this one! Normally the word "resort" is a total turn-off, but Capo Torre is different. Very different.
