High above the little town of Recco on the Ligurian coast, Casa Balin is a family-run B&B that is an oasis of peace. The house has been in the family for a very long time, but it was around the turn of the millennium that Balin completed his education and training in the hotel business and turned his attention to creating his own Bed and Breakfast in the family house.

The structure and character of the old house has been carefully retained while giving all the rooms a fresh clean lonok. Each guest room is totally individual, providing an en-suite bathroom with shower, hairdryer and slippers, television, air-conditioning and wi-fi. Most rooms are comfortably-sized doubles, but there is also a big spacious suite for four guests that includes its own little kitchen area.

Breakfast is served in the main kitchen-breakfast room or in the garden. Don’t miss the local speciality Focaccia bread that is served as a part of the typical Italian breakfast. including proper Italian coffee of course!

The outdoor area is very important at Casa Balin. Centred on the swimming pool, there is a garden, terraces and plenty of sunbeds. And there is a great view down over Recco to the Mediterranean Sea. The steep hillside all around is filled with olive and fruit trees.

For those who love walking or cycling, a visit to San Fruttuoso is a must (also reachable by boat) . Up on the mountain above Casa Balin there is a never-ending network of tracks and trails, for example the path to the Sanctuary of Caravaggio. Lovers of good food should not miss the famous local “focaccia al formaggio” (focaccia with cheese), well known all over the world! Then there is the whole coast at your disposal, including the historic city of Genoa, picturesque Cinque Terre and the upmarket harbour town of Portofino.
