The story of Locanda dell’ Artista begins in 2010 when Cristian and Baker happened upon the ruins of a centuries old farming estate nestled amongst sprawling vineyards, verdant forests and lush olive groves. It was love at first sight, and the beginning of the adventure. After an long and careful restoration of both buildings and grounds, the Locanda we see today was born.

High in the hills between Florence and Siena, this is a romantic country guesthouse, exclusively for adults, nestled in the heart of beautiful Tuscany. The Locanda’s forty acre estate commands spectacular views of the towers of San Gimignano and the surrounding countryside. With a maximum of sixteen guests, this is a private retreat of newly restored 18th century farmhouses combining the modern amenities of a luxury hotel with the personality, individual service and comfort of an elegant country house.

Nestled just below the main house and surrounded by olive trees is the solar-heated swimming pool, offering a tranquil setting from which to soak up the warm Tuscan sunshine or end a day of sightseeing with a cool dip. This beautifully landscaped and comfortably appointed space is an oasis of calm.

The spacious guest rooms feature Simmons mattresses, fine Italian linen and down duvets and pillows. There’s air-conditioning and heating of course, and each room has traditional French windows to enjoy the breathtaking views. Luxuriously appointed private bathrooms feature a bathtub/shower, heated towel rail, plush bathrobes and slippers and toiletries from the exclusive Santa Maria Novella range.

As well as daily breakfast, dinner in the on-site AL43 restaurant is an unforgettable fine dining experience. Awarded one Michelin Star in 2018, AL 43 consistently provides a memorable feast for the eyes and senses. Whether taking in the awe-inspiring views of the Tuscan countryside or enjoying the comfort of the intimate dining room, diners experience exquisite food and warm hospitality. may also enjoy some of Italy’s finest wines from the cellar.
