Poderino San Cristoforo
, Strada regionale 439, km 88, Lajatico, Pisa.
Poderino San Cristoforo is a small family-run hotel on the hills of Lajatico, surrounded by the rolling hills and breathtaking landscapes of Tuscany. It’s a handy position centrally placed between Florence, Pisa and Siena. In addition, a 30 minute car journey will lead to some of the most beautiful beaches and coves on the Tuscan coast.
The hotel is surrounded by fields, so every room has a view. The swimming pool seems to just float above the countryside, with sunbeds, umbrellas, chairs and tables all around. Near the pool there is a lovely terrace with a pergola for a bit of shade. It’s an ideal spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just sipping a drink and taking in the sunset. There’s a further garden too, with sunny or shady places to suit the prevailing sunshine.
The restaurant provides a simple, traditional cuisine rich in the flavours of Tuscany. Breakfast is buffet style, with a good selection of breads, preserves, meats and cheeses. The bar is open all day for coffee, a cocktail or a glass of wine, and at lunchtime you can request sandwiches, salads, and some hot and cold dishes. Then in the evening dinner is served exclusively for hotel guests, with an a la carte menu of typical Tuscan recipes.
All the guest rooms are light, bright and furnished in a simple Tuscan country style. They all have an en-suite bathroom and wi-fi, and at Poderino San Cristoforo the usually ubiquitous television is replaced by a window with a panoramic view of the hills of Tuscany. On the ground floor, one bedroom is equipped for disabled guests.
Latajico stands on a hill between the Val d’Era and Val di Cecina valleys. The most famous attraction nearby is the “Theatre of Silence”, a great natural amphitheatre which hosts the annual concert by Andrea Bocelli.
