Hotel Abaco is a charming little hotel right in the centre of the old town of Altea, just a short distance from the sea. Originally an 18th century bakery, it was turned into an hotel by the artist Linda Caparo, and her works are still to be seen decorating some of the walls. Today Hotel Abaco is in the hands of Adelina and Thomas, dedicated young hoteliers who learned their craft in various parts of the world before coming to Altea. Their passion has grown the hotel into two adjoining buildings, Abaco Vintage and Abaco Fusion. Personal service and fine details shine through in every corner of the hotel.
There are eighteen guest rooms in the main houses plus two more independent studio suites in another nearby house, each one blessed with an individual character reflected in the furnishings and the name. On a more practical level, they also have air-conditioning, wireless internet, a safe, minibar and hair dryer. Adelina and Thomas offer various extra treats to make a lovely holiday complete: a romantic bath with rose petals, strawberries and Cava perhaps, or an ice bucket of your favourite beers. All guests are welcomed with a glass of Cava and some strawberries coated in chocolate.
Altea is a historic Mediterranean town, which has given great importance to the restoration and conservation of its old quarter. Originally a centre of fishing and farming, Altea is one of the loveliest towns along the southern Costa Blanca, retaining all its character and avoiding the mistakes of some of its neighbours. Guests of Hotel Abaco can enjoy a quiet amble through the narrow streets, down to the seafront “paseo” then while away some hours in the shops, bars, restaurants and marina that face onto the sea.
