When you arrive at the Hotel Aiguaclara, you will be greeted by your hosts Clara and Joan, who will take great pleasure in showing you their hotel. They put their hearts and souls into the restoration of this elegant townhouse, drawing out every nuance of more than a century of history; the magnificence of the original town mansion, the faded glory of the middle years and the return to being a place of beauty as a hotel and restaurant.
Throughout the hotel there are high ceilings, beautiful floors, tall elegant windows flooding the rooms with light and simple stylish furnishings that allow the rooms to speak for themselves. Each of the ten rooms is totally individual, decorated in a modern style yet totally in keeping with its origins, and with all the conveniences that one might require.
On summer evenings relax outside on the candlelit terrace or inside on winter evenings in the comfortable lounge bar. Enjoy a mint tea, tapas, a mojito cocktail or a gin and tonic whilst listening to some good music or making use of the free Wi-Fi Internet access.
Situated just two streets from the centre of Begur, bars and restaurants are just a short stroll away, and in summer there is a frequent bus service down to the beaches. The sea is just 3 kilometres away, offering a choice of many of the best beaches on the Costa Brava.

Meals
The restaurant is a very important part of the Hotel Aiguaclara, and here you will find a creative menu based upon Mediterranean dishes. The restaurant is located in the garden of the original house, where once again the old mellow materials of the terrace floor blend harmoniously with the steel and glass of the pergola. The result is a space that is bright by day, and romantic by night.
Dinner is served Tuesday to Saturday in the summer and Wednesday to Saturday in the winter. 3 course menu is €26.50 or individual main dishes from €12.50.
Lunch is not served but there are numerous places to choose in Begur and beyond.
Buffet breakfast is available from 9am-11am. Earlier breakfast can be arranged on request.
Breakfast consists of: bread, toast, butter, homemade jam and marmalade, honey, croissants, cake, fruit platter, assorted cold meats, cheese, cereals, yoghurt, coffee, tea (breakfast tea, red tea, green tea, mint tea, Earl Grey), and natural orange juice.

Reviews
Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
We have just returned from a lovely week at the Hotel Aiguaclara in Begur, Costa Brava.
This is a most hospitable hotel, no formal bar, no pool, but an honesty bar available 24 hours a day with every drink imaginable, tea and coffee making facitities, ice and lemons available whenever you want it. The rooms are large, airy and well appointed, and the hotel has a superb restaurant.
We could borrow sunshades, towels and chairs for a trip to the beach and when we had a problem with our hire car, our hosts sorted everything out with a local garage.
Not your run of the mill corporate type hotel, but individual and full of character. Excellent. |
