Located in the middle of the Minorcan countryside and only a few kilometres from the crystal clear Mediterranean waters and sandy beaches, Alcaufar Vell Hotel & Restaurant preserves the spirit and the warmth of past times. The Mercadel family have owned the estate since the 14th century, and their uses of the land and house have followed the fortunes of the island through all these centuries. 

The hotel has 20 large guest rooms, comfortable and beautifully renovated. Some are in the main 18th century house, complete with 14th century tower, and others in the former laundry and stables of the 19th century farm. The restaurant occupies the old barns of the farm and during the summer it moves to the “Jardí dels Ullastres” garden, where our guests can enjoy excellent cuisine beneath the century-old wild olive trees.

The extensive grounds have comfortable retreats to get lost in, a swimming pool surrounded  by wild olives, meandering paths and acres of land ad woodlands to relax and enjoy the nature of Menorca.

The double rooms in the main building were once the bedrooms for the owners and their guests. Naturally therefore they have great views over the gardens and surrounding countryside. The Junior Suites are at the top of the house, one being the old room of Don Joan, the patriarch of the Mercadel family, while the other has a curious outside lookout with views all the way to the sea.

The double rooms and junior suites in the old farm outbuildings benefit from private terraces with sunbeds and tables. All the rooms have modern facilities to complement the old character: air-conditioning, smart TVs, Nespresso machines, wi-fi internet, a whirlpool bath, a safe, minibar and bathrobes.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served every day in the restaurant or in the garden. There is also a beautiful chill-out area, perfect for a pre-dinner aperitif or a cocktail at any time of day.
