, C/ Alvarez Quintero, 52, Seville.
One of Seville's most elegant classical townhouses has been newly converted into the Hotel Alminar, turning it's back on it's previous role as the headquarters of a leading manufacturer of hand-made silk shawls and flamenco dresses. The team at Alminar have worked hard to create an environment of calm in a quiet pedestrian street in the very heart of Seville. It is just 50 metres from the cathedral and the Giralda, the soaring spire sometimes known by it's old moorish name of Al Minar.
The bedrooms are spacious and modern, and elegantly decorated to provide a cool, calm base for your stay in Seville. It's so peaceful that it's hard to believe that you are right in the centre of a major city. Naturally they are comprehensively equipped with full bathroom, satellite television, telephone, internet access, mini-bar, and individual air conditioning and heating. The two Superior rooms on the top floor even benefit from a small rooftop terrace with views of the cathedral and La Giralda. And for disabled guests, the whole hotel has been designed for easy access and one room is specially adapted for a wheelchair user.
The Sevillian patio at the centre of the building has been carefully restored and retiled with tiles which exactly match the originals. Today this is the place to enjoy the continental breakfast, or just to pop in for a tea or coffee, and to meet up with friends.
We have known Francisco, the manager of Alminar, for a very long time and he is undoubtedly a major asset. He has surrounded himself with a small staff who have a unique knowledge of their city and are more than pleased to help their guests to get the absolute maximum from their stay in Seville. Without a doubt, this hotel is so much more than just a building.

Just breakfast is available, but don't despair, there are scores of restaurants in the surrounding streets. What's more, breakfast is an ample buffet with cold meats and cheeses, yoghourts, cereals, fresh fruit and cakes, plus toasts, croissants and orange juice (and coffee, tea, etc of course).
Out and About
Sevilla is like a mosaic of civilisations and cultures: Phoenicians, Romans, Moors, Christians. Its an adventure of discovery to wander through its streets and monuments. At Hotel Alminar, all of Seville is on your doorstep:
La Giralda - the most universal symbol of Seville
The cathedral - second largest cathedral in the world, built on the previous Moorish mosque
Torre del Oro - on the banks of the Guadalquivir river
The Royal Fortress
Barrio de Santa Cruz - narrow streets, white-washed houses, balconies overflowing with flowers,……
Outside of Seville, you could visit:
Carmona (city walls, palaces, Roman mosaic)
Écija (moorish walled town)
Osuna (stunning scenery all around)
Jerez (for the sherry, of course!)
Coto Doñana National park
Golf and horse-riding are nearby.
Two of the Superior Rooms are on the top floor of the building with a terrace and a view to the Cathedral and La Giralda. The third one is situated on the second floor so has no terrace but it is the hotel's biggest room with 3 balconies and a view to La Giralda. All three have a full en-suite bathroom with hair-dryer, air-condition/heating, flatscreen TV with international channels and a minibar.
Spacious, comfortable double rooms of approximately 20m2. Totally equipped with private bathroom with hair-dryer, balcony (except one on the ground floor, which is adapted for clients with reduced mobility), air-condition/heating, flatscreen TV with international channels and a minibar.
Slightly smaller rooms for single stays with prívate bathroom with shower. Fully equipped with balcony, air-condition/heating, flatscreen TV with international channels and a minibar.
Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
The hotel was in a great location less than a minutes walk from the Cathedral. The room with a terrace was ideal with a great view of the bell tower. It was very clean with a comfortable bed and shower room. The staff were very professional, attentive and helpful. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes to discover Spanish food and culture. An ideal location for a city break!
|The Hotel Alminar was ideally placed, clean and modern, and our room gave us a lovely view of the pantiled roof opposite with the cathedral beyond. The staff were courteous and helpful. A friend of our friends who lives in Madrid, and who stayed one night in the hotel, left saying he would be recommending it to Spanish friends.|
|Myself & a friend stayed in Hotel Alminar, Seville last week and I have to say it was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. If I ever return to Seville I will be staying in this hotel as it is also very central.|

Two things stand out at Alminar: the closeness to the cathedral and all the sights of Seville, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They really go the extra mile to give you the local information that you won't find in any guidebook.
