Bennoc Petit Hotel has a history that goes right back to the 12th century, yet is now a hotel that is bang up-to-date in all the best ways. It retains the rustic walls of the exterior, blending them with fresh, modern, comfortable interiors. Beyond the spacious grounds is yet more space, the fields, woods and orchards of the Mallorcan countryside.
The hotel is family-owned and managed, ensuring an immensely friendly service and superb attention to detail. The family themselves brought this old farmhouse back to life, and now Xisco and Maríá take great pleasure in receiving their guests like friends.
Bennoc Petit Hotel has all the essentials of a great Mallorcan holiday: a large swimming pool, ample terraces, huge courtyards and garden, the sound of nothing playing all around, and it's not far from some wonderful beaches. Nearly everything is on one level so this hotel is also ideal for people who are a bit less nimble on their feet.
Amongst the twelve guest rooms there is a choice of a double room, junior suite or suite. They are all beautifully appointed, very comfortable and very generously proportioned. Most also have a terrace, and one is specially adapted for disabled guests.
An addition from just a few years ago is the Spa and Wellness Area with steam baths and a sauna.
A hire car is pretty essential as the position is quite remote. The car quickly takes you to the long sandy beaches of the south coast though, or the pretty little sandy and rocky coves of the east coast. The airport is not too far (but far enough) and it is also an easy drive into Palma for a different sort of sightseeing.
Children older than 12 years are welcome at this hotel.
Meals
The elegant restaurant at Bennoc Petit Hotel offers a friendly service and quite exquisite food. Through the warmer parts of the year, meals can be taken on the terrace as well as in the dining room.
The breakfast buffet has fresh fruits, juices and homemade jams and cakes, cheese and yoghurt, cold meats and of course, the favourite Majorcan speciality “pa amb oli”.
Dinners are a modern take on traditional Mediterranean cuisine, using a great deal of fruit and vegetables from the hotel's own organic fields and gardens.
Lunchtime snacks are also available.
Out and About
Sunset at Es Trenc
Es Trenc beach with its virgin sands is only 15 minutes away. Other choices would be Cala Pí, Sa Rapita, S'Estanyol or Playa de Palma.
A little to the east, the Calas de Majorca offer small sandy beaches enclosed within bays with low cliffs around. Some are totally undeveloped; others have a village or town around them like Cala Santanyi, Portopetro or Cala d'Or.
The Llucmajor area is perfect for cycling, on or off-road. It's quite flat so not too taxing. For something hillier, head for the Tramuntana mountains.
There are nearby archaeological sites of prehistoric dwellings.
Hiking in the Tramuntana mountains is a stunning experience with beautiful sea views.
There are two 18 hole golf courses just 10 minutes from the hotel.
The city of Palma is 20 minutes from the hotel and offers a wide selection of restaurants, shops, museums, theatres, the cathedral & royal palace, and Bellver castle to name a few.
Reviews
Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
Just returned from a 2 week break at the Bennoc Hotel. Had a lovely relaxing time, our room was away from the main area and was known as the garden room, which overlooked some lovely plants and trees. The owner put us in this particular room as it was quiet. Most guests staying appeared to only be there for a few days. We were very happy with our accommodation but felt it lacked a sitting area, so we had to make do with the bed. Our friends joined us in the middle part of our stay, their room was superb, and the others around were equally stylish. A lot of thought has been put into the decor of each room, and the showers etc were of the highest quality.
The 2 girls who served breakfast and cleaned rooms were extremely pleasant as was Maria who served at the restaurant.
Menu was lovely, but being there for 2 weeks it could probably have benefited from being changed weekly. Food we had though was lovely and all freshly cooked. During day there was no real facilities to have lunch, although if you managed to find someone they were more than happy to make you something.
Pool area lovely and very peaceful, again beautifully kept.
We would both go back again, but not during the busiest 2 weeks of the summer. A car is a must, one advantage of being so close to Palma, only took 15 mins to sample the numerous tapas bars! |
Here's What Some People Have Written On Other Review Sites or in the Guestbook:
Perfect hosts, perfect staff, amazing food!!! If you search for a quiet and individual spot with a 12th century flair you are right! If you look for an in place for hip people, stay away. Get ready for a beautifully designed hotel with surprising food and fruity Mallorquin wines! |
We went for a long weekend romantic break where we were warmly received by the owners. The rooms have an excellent level of furnishing, especially the mattresses and the size of the beds. |
I think this is the first hotel I have stayed in where I can say I truly felt at home. Leaving was like departing from a visit to your family when you have been treated with the utmost care and love. |
From the first moment, the hotel stole my heart. This was what we had been looking for. |

We Say
"Petit Hotel" seems a bit of a misnomer. The hotel may be small but the pool, the terrace, the garden and all the rooms are large. Combine this with comfort, quality and a friendly and attentive service for a most memorable holiday.
